Quantitative and Qualitative Detail.

Background.

Sawley & Long Eaton Park CC is a Derbyshire Community Focus Club who have four senior teams in the Derbyshire County League and nine junior teams for all age groups including a girls team which plays competitive cricket in partnership with another local club.

The club plays on West Park in Long Eaton, the showpiece park managed by Erewash Borough Council. The club has two pavilions adjacent to each other and two on turf practice nets both with non turf bowling run ups.

The club has always participated in cricket force and built the practice net facility during that weekend in 2009.

Aims and Objectives.

Cricket force this year had the following objectives:-

  • Re-erect the two practice net cages after winter storage and undertake some maintenance of the facility.
  • Prepare the main pavilion for the coming season including new noticeboards for the junior section and a new top for the club bar.
  • Clean and then paint the floors of the changing rooms in the pavilion which serves our 3rd/4th XI and junior teams.
  • Remove the aluminium panels from one ofour sight screens in preparation for its refurbishment.

Main achievements to date.

Practice nets successfully erected and renovated. Floors painted in secondary pavilion. Main pavilion made ready for new season. Sight screen made ready for refurbishment.

Main partners involved.

Cricketforce attracted 17 volunteers from across the membership incluing a number of junior members and their immediate family.

It enjoyed the support of a local builder and kitchen fitter joiner.
