Quantitative and Qualitative Detail.

Background. Sawley & Long Eaton Park CC is a Derbyshire Community Focus Club who have four senior teams in the Derbyshire County League and nine junior teams for all age groups including a girls team which plays competitive cricket in partnership with another local club.
The club plays on West Park in Long Eaton, the showpiece park managed by Erewash Borough Council. The club has two pavilions adjacent to each other and two on turf practice nets both with non turf bowling run ups.
The club has always participated in cricket force and built the practice net facility during that weekend in 2009. |
Aims and Objectives. Cricket force this year had the following objectives:-
Main achievements to date. Practice nets successfully erected and renovated. Floors painted in secondary pavilion. Main pavilion made ready for new season. Sight screen made ready for refurbishment.
Main partners involved. Cricketforce attracted 17 volunteers from across the membership incluing a number of junior members and their immediate family.
It enjoyed the support of a local builder and kitchen fitter joiner.
Key factors for good practice. Promotion of the event at senior & junior nets and at pre season junior registration night. Posters on web site and reminder ’date for your diary’ flyers for members and potential volunteers. A greeter for the day and appropriate project leaders. |
What is still to be achieved? Refurbishment of a sight screen. The day also identified projects for Cricket Force 2011 – minor projects - ramp to store room, insulation of pavilion loft, installation of a loft ladder, erection of new main pavilion clock. But also major project - continuing refurbishment of our secondary pavilion – rebuilding viewing balcony, enlargement of social area and improvement of groundworks around pavilion.
What mechanisms are in place to ensure sustainability? All volunteers have been thanked by individual emails. Invitation extended to our ‘thank you’ match when the 1st XI play Belper Meadows in August.
Plan to have an Autumn Cricket Force 2010 after last match of the season
